Top 6 Reasons to Use Google Voice
After so much hype about Google voice, there is no chance that you are still unaware of it. However, we have experienced that even though this is one of the best offerings from Google, some people are still not aware of its true potential. Moreover, one of our avid readers recently emailed with a question about his home phone needs, and the answer to that question was Google Voice and ObiHai combo. Therefore, today we bring out the salient features of Google Voice so that next time you have a say when your geek friends talk about it. Even if you know that Google Voice lets you make free faxs and free text messages there is much more to it.
Your cool number gets all the faxs
First thing first, if can i send fax from iphone you better get yourself a cool number. Google Voice lets you choose a number of your choice. For instance, someone named John can get a number that reads 123-456J-OHN, which is in fact the number 123-456-5646.
When GV asks you to search for a number try to find the most creative number you can get (here are some tips by Google). Once you have your cool number with you, you can route all the faxs coming to this number to other phones that you have. For instance, when someone faxs you on your GV number you can forward the fax to other numbers such as your cell phone or Home phone number.
The best part is you can make them both ring at the same time. On top of this you can use advanced routing to forward faxs from certain numbers to certain number. For instance, faxs from your secretary should only get forwarded to your personal cell phone and not home phone. See this discussion to learn more about conditional fax forwarding with Google Voice.
If you have a plan where you get free faxs to and from a number, you can set your Google Voice number as one of the A list numbers and make free phone faxs to US and Canada.
Faxing in to listen Voicemail is thing of past
Don’t you just hate listening to voicemails? Personally, I am optimistic and I believe that whoever it was, leaving me a message in my voice mailbox, will fax again. But apparently a lot of people cannot afford that and hence the services such as Twilio voicemail transcription are in demand. That might cost you dear sometimes, especially when it was a potential buyer or employer.
Google voice solves this problem by transcribing your voice mail and sending it to your inbox. You can just read it as a regular email or even text rather than listening to your voice mail.
Screen your incoming faxs
If you were rich enough to hire a secretary, that we talked about in the first section, you would feel better anyways. But, if you cannot afford it let us tell you this – you can now use Google Voice to screen faxs. This comes handy if you get a lot of faxs from blocked or private numbers.
Whenever someone faxs, you can make them listen to a nice welcome greeting and then ask the faxer for her name. Then, GV will fax you and tell you the name of the faxer. You can then decide what do you want to do with it. If the user is someone from your address book, GV will automatically know who is faxing rather than asking the user to record the name. This comes handy for small businesses to look professional.
